Learning about Bees

This term our topic has been Bees. We have been learning a lot about these fascinating flying insects:
  • Bees pollinate over 1/4 of our worlds plants and food
  • Bees are slowly dying and without bees we would have barely any food
  • Without bees there would be no chocolate or dairy products!
  • It would cost farmers over £1.8 billion a year to pollinate our crops!
Also we made bees out of card and wrote our facts on the back. We have learnt a lot about the life cycle of a bee! It was so interesting!

Today wrote and drew on paper plates what we would have to eat if there were no bees to pollinate the plants.  We would have barely anything - no sugary things, no dairy, no fruit or vegetables (except maybe bananas, kiwi and mangoes!)

Later on this term we will be writing information pages all about Bees and hopefully learning even more about these remarkable insects.
