OUR AMAZING TRIP TO TECHNIQUEST

On Wednesday 14th of January, we were lucky enough to visit the fantastic Techniquest in Cardiff, Wales. It was not the normal Wednesday Year 6 would generally have, but a fabulous, exciting day in the amazing science activity filled Techniquest. Here is more about the great trip.

The coach journey was long and tedious, though also worth the excitement to come. On the way we were delayed - by snow! It lay in thick blankets of white on everything; the fields were a frosty beauty of white powder; the houses were like pretty gingerbread houses; the trees were icy fingers of winter. We travelled past this winter wonderland and on to the Severn bridge. It was very high and the river below looked dark and churning. We crossed safely and yelled " we're in Wales!" as we arrived on solid ground. Everyone was now really impaitent to get there. Then finally we arrived!!!

We all leaped out of the coach, buzzing with excitment. We were told to put our bags in an enormous box and were guided into Techniquest itself!

The activities were fabulous. here are some we liked:

  • The walk on piano - a giant piano.
  • The granite ball - a gigantic granite ball that you could spin.
  • The zoom in - a big tablet that you could zoom into space.
We then went and had our lunch. Mine was very ,very yummy!

Later on, we went to a fantastic show. It was called 'The Materials Show'.  Two scientists did experiments with liquids, solids and gases. My favourite experiment was when they put a banana in liquid nitrogen (a freezing cold substance), it froze and then they used it as a hammer. Wow!

We had a bit more time exploring the activities and then hopped onto the coach to go home. We were all sad - we didn't want such a brilliant day to end.

All in all, Techniquest was an amazing place to be and it was a fantastic experience.  We hope we can go again ...
