Christmas Time!

This term has been outstanding! We have held a WW2 cafe that ended our amazing topic, where we made our own cakes. There were carrot cookies, gingerbread cake, vineger cake, dripping cake, mini apple and cinnamon pies and rock buns. We set up the cafe in a WW2 style and had people dressed up as waiters and waitesses and some as customers, along with our parents and teachers.

We have also been making some authentic WW2 Christmas presents. We decorated wooden blocks and had to sand the blocks and then put a primer on it. When the primer was dry we painted them and then varnished them.  They were lovely and colourful. Instead of doing blocks other people did sewing, people did the blanket stitch. Some people made pillows, christmas tree decorations and bunting.

On the 17th and 18th of December children got to participate in te Newbridge Christmas Concert. Year 6 played a piece of music called Pachelbel's Canon and it was brilliant! Blues band, orchestra, recoders, brass group and of coures the choir all took part in the wonderful event. Blues band played Billie Jean and Alfie L did a solo, it was magnificent!

Year 6 are really looking forward to watching Cinderella at the pantomime at the Theatre Royal this afternoon. We will be telling all about it next year.

60B this term

Hello,

This term we have carried on our wonderful topic of WW2. We have mainly focused on rationing and evacuation. Last term we were focusing on the Bath Blitz. It was so interesting finding out what happened to Bath during those awful raids. Mr Cumpson kindly took us on a walk around Bath to see the ruins or changes that were made by WW2 and that still remained.

Later this term we are looking forward to a magnificent cookery session of WW2 rationed food, and parents and carers are welcome to come along and snack on our, hopefully, delicious cakes and little yummy snacks!!!!!

We also are really looking forward making Christmas decorations and toys with kindly donated wood . We will make little exciting wooden bricks. YEY!

We also have the amazing opportunity of visiting the Theatre Royal to watch Cinderella the pantomime! We will be going on the last day of term. What an amazing treat!
